Founded by Patricia Brace and Bethany Engstrom, in consultation with artist Deborah Wing-Sproul, the PAI was formed out of the recognition of a need for expanded discourse, community, and support for their medium, despite Maine’s breadth of excellent performance artists. From 2015 - 2022 Patricia has participated in “Performance Club” in New Jersey and Maine, an outlet for performance artists to create in-process performances. PAI was founded from this idea and the passion for creating a community and audience for performance art in Maine.
