Marina Yacoe

Marina Yacoe is a video artist and ‘Tube-Dancer’ who lives and shepherds her sheep in Mid Coast Maine.

Marina has studied film at the School of Visual Arts in NYC; studied dance ethnography at UCLA; performed Afro-Brazilian folk dances in Santa Monica; completed her masters degree in Christian theology and disaster mental health and is currently an Interdisciplinary PhD student at the University of Maine. She is researching what she calls : Resilience in the Making. Her video work is currently forced on creating collections of short abstract films that are dedicated to personal stereoscope viewers.

Some of her most inspiring early memories from growing up in NYC in the 1970’s, are of Mummenschantz and Paper Bag Player performances. Although ‘from away’ Marina is delighted to work and live here and participate in Maine’s rich creative community of makers and thinkers.
